Everyone is using ChatGPT to write their website pages now. Every competitor in your industry has the same generic AI-generated service descriptions. Google knows it. And it's actively pushing that generic AI content down in rankings.
Here's the checklist to make sure your site stands out from the growing pile of AI slop:
- Original photos of YOUR actual work. Not stock photography. Real, geotagged images from jobs you've actually completed. Google can verify these are authentic, and customers trust them immediately over generic stock images.
- Personal stories and specific project details. "We replaced a 40-year-old cast iron pipe in a Victorian home in the Mission District last month" beats "We offer professional plumbing services for residential customers" every single time. Specificity is proof that you're real.
- Concrete numbers instead of generic claims. "Completed 847 projects in Fremont since 2019 with a 4.9 average rating" is believable and impressive. "Years of experience serving the community" tells Google and your customers absolutely nothing useful.
- The human readability test. Read your service pages out loud. If any sentence sounds like a robot wrote it, rewrite it in your own words. Your customers can tell the difference instantly. Google can too. And in 2026, it matters more than ever for your rankings.
The businesses winning right now aren't the ones with the most content. They're the ones with the most authentically human content. Real photos. Real stories. Real numbers. That's what separates your website from the thousands of AI-generated competitor pages that all read exactly the same way.
